FLOWER CARE

Fresh flowers are one of life’s simple pleasures, and a little care can help you enjoy them for longer. Our Fairview flowers are grown seasonally, harvested fresh and selected with vase life in mind. Follow these simple care tips to help your flowers stay hydrated, open beautifully and last as long as possible in your home.

THE VASE

Start with a clean vase and fresh, cool water. Trim 1–2 cm from the bottom of each stem on an angle before placing your flowers in water, and remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline.

THE WATER

Change the water every day or two, giving the stems another small trim each time. Keep your flowers somewhere cool, away from direct sunlight, heaters and strong drafts.

THE PLACEMENT

It is also best to keep fresh flowers away from ripening fruit, which releases ethylene and can cause blooms to age more quickly.

THE STEMS

As individual stems begin to fade, remove them from the arrangement so the remaining flowers can continue to shine.

Ranunculus prefer a lower water level than many other cut flowers. Around 5–8 cm of fresh water is plenty. Check the vase regularly and top it up as needed, as these beautiful blooms can be surprisingly thirsty.
