There’s something incredibly special about stepping away from the everyday rhythm of work and immersing yourself in flowers, creativity, and learning. This week I’ve had the pleasure of doing exactly that at the Bloom Retreat at Little Lyndoch Flower Farm in the beautiful Barossa Valley.

Day one has already been filled with inspiration, connection, and the kind of hands-on floral learning that reminds me why I fell in love with flowers in the first place.

Little Lyndoch Flower Farm is exactly what you’d imagine when you picture a flower lover’s paradise rows of seasonal blooms and the peaceful backdrop of the Barossa. Being surrounded by flowers that have been grown right there on the farm adds another level of appreciation for the craft of floristry. Every stem tells a story, from seed to arrangement. To see all of this hard work in person makes this feel very surreal.

The first day focused on slowing down and reconnecting with our own visions and goals for our small business. This was great work for me and got me thinking on another level!

One of the most rewarding parts of the retreat has been spending time with other florists and flower lovers who share the same passion. There’s something really energising about exchanging ideas, techniques, and experiences with people who understand the artistry and dedication that goes into creating beautiful floral work.

For me, retreats like this are more than just professional development. They’re a chance to step back, learn new techniques, gather inspiration, and bring fresh ideas back to Fairview Flowers. Every workshop, conversation, and arrangement helps refine skills and sparks creativity that ultimately flows through to the flowers we create for our customers.

And the best part? We’re only halfway through.

With day two about to begin, I’m excited to dive even deeper into the world of seasonal blooms, new floral techniques, and the joy of creating with flowers grown right here in South Australia.

Stay tuned! I’ll be sharing more from the retreat and some of the beautiful creations that come out of the next day of learning.

Sometimes the best way to grow is to simply surround yourself with flowers. 🌸
