While the flower fields may look a little quieter over winter, behind the scenes it’s one of our busiest and most exciting times of the year here. Winter is all about preparation, planting, and dreaming ahead to the incredible blooms we’ll be enjoying in spring.
Planting for Spring Blooms
We’re especially excited about our Ranunculus this year. So far, we’ve planted 633 Ranunculus plugs, with another 288 on the way. These stunning layered blooms are always a favourite in the flower field and bouquets, and we can’t wait to see them bursting into colour in spring.
We also have:
576 stock flower plugs arriving soon
288 white anemone plugs ready for planting
288 scabiosa plugs joining the flower patch this season
Each variety brings something special to the farm — from the soft romantic petals of ranunculus and anemones to the delicate texture of scabiosa and the beautiful fragrance of stock flowers.we seriously CANNOT WAIT!

Big Changes Around the Farm
Winter isn’t just about planting flowers — it’s also a season of growth for the farm itself.
We’re currently upgrading our fencing and improving sections of the flower field.
At the same time, we’re still hard at work building our greenhouse — a project we’re incredibly excited about. The greenhouse will help us extend our growing season, protect delicate seedlings, and continue expanding the range of flowers we can grow here on the farm. I know I've been talking about this for a while, time absolutely gets away! This is why we've resorted to plug trays to get us moving, next season we'll attempt to collect seed and germinate ourselves.
Looking Ahead
There’s something incredibly rewarding about planting in winter. Even on the cold mornings and muddy days, every plug planted is a reminder that spring is coming.
Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more updates as the flower fields begin to come to life again. We can already picture the rows of ranunculus, anemones, stock flowers, and scabiosa swaying in the spring sunshine. Eeeekkk 🤩😁
Thank you for following along on this journey and supporting our little flower farm. We can’t wait to for the fields to begin to bloom again. 🌸
